Attention Canadian Student Transhumanists!!! CBC's "Nerve" Wants YOU

Hi all [see attached message below],

I spoke with Jennifer this morning. She and the CBC "Nerve" programare looking for a *Canadian* (or someone living in Canada - they need to shoot in Canada), age 16-23, who they can follow around and get a sense of the person's perspective, current work, life goals, etc.

"Nerve" needs people working on something "tangible" - some topic on which they can shoot footage. Jennifer said it might sound terrible, but something with robots would work quite well. I gave her the E-mail addresses of two students to whom George Dvorsky also sent her notice and suggested she see if U of Toronto cyborg inventor Steve Mann had any students who declare themselves Transhumanists (as he now does) and would be interesting in appearing on the program. This could be visually very interesting because the student could show
off his/her/zer craftsmanship and the camera could take the
perspective of the eyetap device on the student's head part of the time.

I mentioned to her that there are many variations on the general Transhumanist theme, so any one person she covers will only represent one perspective in the Transhumanist ambit.

***If you think you would be a good match for the show, call
Jennifer Strate, then let me know you are trying to get covered and what passions you are highlighting.

Subject: CBC's new youth show 'Nerve'

Hi George,

My name is Jenn Strate and I work on a new social issues and culture show called 'nerve' for people between 16 and 24 years old. I came across your website through Now Magazine and am wondering if you have any active members between the ages of 16 and 24 who are involved with projects that forward the use of technology to better humans? I would very much like to talk to one of your members about the group and your work.

Here's some more information about the show:

'Nerve' likes to tell the personal stories of young people who
approach life with creativity and passion or who have been involved with certain issues that resonate with our audience. We have covered stories ranging from a young immigrant from Zimbabwe who came here three years ago without his parents, to a profile of workers at an anarchist cafe in the prairies, to a young psychic, to a native hip hop group that uses music to reclaim racial identity. I've attached an information sheet below on the show and you can check out our website at www.cbc.ca/nerve

I look forward to hearing from you. Please don't hesitate to contact me at 416-205-7661.

Best,
Jennifer Strate
